No to Mojo - Yes to Conno

Created by: netminder71

Initial Creation Date: Jun. 7, 2019

Description
Ugh, these Mojo theories.
1) You are getting the same soft, often injured, and streaky guy you had before. Only now he feels entitled to top PP time.
2) Dallas did not sign Janmark to trade him.
3) Stephenson has no business taking up more than NHL min as a 13th forward on this team.
4) The Caps need to set themselves up to re-up Backie, make a critical go-forward decision on Holtby, and make a commitment to guys like Vrana and Siegs (aka the future)

Bottom line. Gets some picks, promote from within...sign Hags and Conno...done.

  2. 2020 2nd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Burakovsky has enough talent to warrant a couple picks. Just like Eller was 2 2nd rounders, and the Caps got a 2nd and a 3rd for Mojo

  1. Burakovsky, André [RFA Rights]

WSH
  1. 2019 6th round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
He does not want to sign in DC. So be it. Get a little compensation for a guy that is going to be NHL ready very soon.

WSH
  1. 2020 6th round pick (SJS)
Additional Details:
I don't think he's played his way into an every day roster spot or anything greater than NHL minimum...aside from a bit of speed, he's got almost no offense to him, and I'd rather have Hagelin on a checking line or develop Gersich.

I agree with all of this except maybe the Mojo part. He's a fantastic player, better than Conno in my opinion. But I'd have to see the deal first before I signed it.

Burakovsky isn't going to get the Caps a 7th, much less a 2nd + 3rd. That's just pure comedy!

See your right about everything you said about mojo... except you forgot to add that he’s also a really good player. You can get him for moderately cheap and when he’s playing he’s a very good player.

I think it took Conno longer and the right situation to get his career potential going. But Mojo was good, then bad, then decent, then injured, then bad, then injured, then good, then injured then gone. Then inconsistent with NJ, then injured, then good, then decent, then traded. I just don't know what commitment he has to playing a full season at his potential...and at what price point?

I love the guy...HECK I wore a Mojo 90 jersey for a while to Caps games (it sits in a storage box now)...I wish him the best but is he the best fit for 2RW or 3RW? I'd honestly pray Oshie can be healthy and the leader we all need, and roll that Conno can provide consistent offense and 2nd PP time. At $1.5-2M less, and be healthy.
