Not sure why Johnson would be inclined to waive his NTC to leave one of the best teams in the league.

Have you not seen Tampa's financial issues?

replace johnson with gourde and we'll talk. Tampa has more ways to address their financial issues than trading a guy who scored 29 goals last year

Why would Johnson be inclined to sacrifice himself in order to fix Tampa's financial issues? He's earned his NTC, he can stay put if he chooses. It's up to the team to make the cap work around him.

lmao its not like he’s getting traded to Ottawa, if Crawford and Murphy were healthy the whole year, the Hawks are a playoff team. Johnson, Gourde, Palat, Killorn, and Miller will all be approached to compile a list of teams they do not want to go to. If you want to talk about ‘sacrificing’ im sure everyone I listed then coincides to that comment. People have to be moved, and I doubt all said players will throw a hissy fit if approached. More will be reluctant to leave than you think, it’s just a matter of who...and in my fantasy world, Johnson is that guy. Who the hell wouldn’t want to play on a line with Toews and Kane? lol

And all of them will tell the GM to kick rocks except for Miller, who is obliged to name 23 teams to which he would accept a trade.

Toews and Kane often don't play on the same line, so more than likely said player being dealt would not be playing on a line with both of them. However, even if they were, I would say that a player playing on the team that just tied the NHL record for wins in a season probably doesn't want to leave for a team that hasn't made the playoffs since 2017.

Why wouldn't NJ trade a 2nd and 3rd for the much better Johnson instead of a 3rd for an older, inferior Anisimov??
