Fluery Trade

Created by: ItWasIn
Team: 2016-17 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 16, 2016
Published: Jun. 16, 2016
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Nothing significant this summer for Calgary. Limited cap space as it doesn't appear Smid or Raymond will be bought out, the Flames feel the pinch of these bad contracts for 1 more season before having some more cap space.

PIT Trade: The Pens need to clear cap space. It is possible that Kunitz retires but there is a chance he doesn't and could be included in a deal. Pittsburgh takes on Wideman and a couple decent prospects and a pick, which helps out Pittsburgh's empty prospect cupboards

Looks good, except Vrbata might not sign for 1m

Yeah just wishful thinking, although I don't imagine there being much of a market for him as it was reported there was no offers for him at the deadline. If Pribyl's knee surgery goes well he could be a candidate to play top line RW as well

Think it takes a bit more to get Fleury, than cap relief.

If the Pens are looking to move Fluery this summer, they can't be overly picky considering the saturated goalie market and so few teams looking for a starter. Maybe Calgary throws in a 2nd instead of a 3rd, but I don't anticipate them getting much for Fluery considering the market

The Pens just won the cup because of their team speed. Where does Wideman fit in that scenario?

We'll see how it pans out, but Fleury is by far the best goalie available (and is only available at all because Murray is so good) and there will be some competition (Cgy, Tor, Dal, Edm, Arz, Buf, Ott ... maybe some surprise teams like Fla or Det too) - so I think the Pens can be very picky. I predict the Flames would have to give up a couple of good young prospects. Eg. Shinkaruk+Jokipakka, something like that.

I agree with my friend VanillaIce,
Fleury is by far the best goalie available and EDM and CGY are in a need to make the playoffs now mode so they will be willing to pay.
The one who doesn't get Fleury will not make the playoffs and these are competing markets...

Edmonton has Talbot, no need for Fleury

Well, he could always create more space on the ice for the others by taking out a linesman...
