From the year end reports I read they are both very close to NHL ready but could probably benefit from 1 more year in Bakersfield. I could see the Oilers trading Bear in a package for a top 6 winger but Benson isn’t going anywhere

Both are on the cusp I would say. In a perfect world they both start in the minors and have a good half season. If things turn out well, they could get time around January til end of the year.

Next season is when I would confidently say they are NHL ready and would slot them in the opening night roster.

Benson is 100% ready and should crack the oilers roster this season, Bear is close to ready but because of the logjam on d for Edmonton he’ll likely play this coming season in Bakersfield (unless a couple trades happen that sends 50% of the teams current nhl D away this summer)
