I wouldn’t say spare parts because brodie is top 4, Bennett a top 9 and same with Jankowski but If im buffalo I wouldn’t do this unless he request a trade

Thank you for your feedback and since not one Buffalo fan likes any of the moves they must be bad. The RW is rather weak, but if Olofsson could produce for the entire season, well one can only dream.

Let’s consider the Calgary trade.
Brodie had more EVS points (29) than any Buffalo defender (Ristolainen 26)
Only Giordano had more ice time/gm than Brodie.
Adding Brodie and Zaitsev along with Montour last year gives Buffalo 7 quality NHL defensemen. Last year we had 4, Dahlin, Ristolainen, Bogosian and McCabe.
In 2018-19 in the entire NHL only Grabner had more short-handed points than Jankowski (8 all Buffalo Sabre forwards managed to garner 5).
There is nothing special about Bennett other than his 1.7 pts/60 would have ranked only behind our top line and Pominville and Sheary.
I hate trading away Reinhart, but this trade fills 3 positions, LHD, #3 center and RW.
Maybe we take out Nylander, or Calgary adds, but I like making the defense stronger.

Next Montreal trade:
I would be happy to move Scandella’s salary with out having to pay a team to take him. With Dahlin, Brodie, McCabe and Pilut he is the 5th Sabre LHD.

Now Nashville trade:
Turris broke his ankle twice last year but still managed to put up 1.6 pts/60 and is a year removed from 51 pts. The Sabres need centers more than they need RW. Maybe retaining that much salary or the Sabres could add more to the trade.

Finally Toronto trade:
I know Zaitsev gets a lot of bad comments but that I mainly based on his salary and point production, but he had more PK/game ice time than any other Leaf. I paired him with Dahlin so Rasmus’ offence could be more creative while Zaitsev would watch his back.

I have Peca and Asplund on the bottom line, but upon reflection I would keep Girgensons and Larsson. With Bennett on the wing, he may be able to get some breakaway chances as he could be ready to dash up the ice once the Sabres gained control of the puck in the defensive zone.

Finally, Brodie, Zaitsev, and Jankowski PK time was among their team leaders, IMO one can never have too many PK players. Their defensive play should help the Sabres cut down on the 5-5 goal against.

Edit: I forgot to add Brodie was +29 last year, fourth best on the team.

The guy on the good team had more points than the guys on the bad team?

Again, not close to being worth reinhart

But does that not make Brodie that much more valuable that he is getting second most minutes for good team.
Now, you may be correct that Buffalo is giving too much and Brodie is an upcoming UFA (which reduces his value), I really like this team's defense, a huge upgrade over last year.
The bottom six is significantly improved with Bennett and Jankowski and the middle six centers are much better with Turris.
I am concerned that Turris may be a bad trade, if he failed to produce, then in essence we would have $9,000,000 of dead cap instead of $6,000,000. So I have to agree that that is a very risky trade, but if it works, the top 6 is also much better with him at #2C.
TBH I was hoping to hear from CGY fans because I was not sure if I had included enough from Buffalo since the Sabres are getting a top pairing defenseman, a great PK center and a young player.
Regardless, thank you for your thoughts.

Edit: you are correct, I keep Okposo and not trade for Turris. I need to think more about the Brodie trade though, I am not convinced that that is a bad move.
