Description

Oilers Rationale: Oilers get Drouin who could be electric with McDavid and another good winger in Lehkonen (would be their second best winger after Drouin). Also get Poehling who is a bit of a wild card, could easily be top 6 in a year or two. The swap of Russel for Petry is a clear upgrade for Oilers, and Oilers also have an overall cap savings of probably 4-5 $million by getting rid of Gagner. Would have additional cap to go after another UFA winger or D. Oilers also get #15OA in exchange for their 2nd rounder next year.
MTL Rational: While they have a group of solid, young centers, are any of them really top #C quality? This give MTL a stud center for years to come.

Massive overpayment for 1 good player who won,t put up the same numbers without McDavid and a couple of bench-warmer cap dumps. Habs decline. Habs keep Fleury and the 1st, Oilers take Alzner.
