I have no interest in signing Stralman at that length or cap hit. He's already not super mobile, he's only going to get slower. Signing that deal stops you from getting somebody better in the 2020 UFA class, hard pass on that.

I have fallen victim to this as well, but if that's what Vancouver is trading why don't they just deal with Vegas directly? It's basically the same trade. I also don't think if they want to upgrade their RD, they trade us a RD.

These four trades all look great to me, nice work! I agree with others on stralman though, no interest in him for that term as he gets older.

If we get Virtanen, might like to keep him around for the fourth line, Vegas is in cap hell, maybe Borgman and a couple picks would be enough to entice Vegas?

Because if not, I'm really not sure what evidence there is to say that Benning is a dummy? The Loui contract is pretty much the only big mistake that I can think of that he's made, and he's also managed to amass a pretty solid young core. I don't like the Nucks, but I can comfortably say that he's been a pretty good GM.

I completely agree with that, but the basis of your trade is "Jim Benning is going to make this mistake", when, looking back on the deals that Benning has done over the past few years, there doesn't seem to be any evidence that: A) He's enamored by Zaitsev, or B) He's out there making this type of mistake.

Obviously none of us have a friggin' clue, but my thought would be "Benning actually just managed to get rid of Erik Gudbranson, who defensive metrics have as one of, if not the worst dman in the league, and actually got a *Somewhat* useful piece back in Tanner Pearson (12 pts in 19 games after getting a bigger role in Vancouver).
