Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
TB would fix their cap situation while finding the solid RHD they need in addition to some good pieces.

LAK badly wants LHD Byram at the Draft so they move up to 4th OA by sending the 5th OA plus a young player (Kupari) to COL.

I wonder how much teams like Colorado, Winnipeg, Carolina and Tampa are pushing to get these guys (Rantanen, Laine, Point, Aho) extended before Marner signs. If he sets the market at something along the lines of 5 or 6 x $10.5, teams are going to end up throwing out a lot more dough than expected.

Tampa doesn't have many options, so... Unless he signs a bridge deal, Point's about to get PAID.

Tampa doesn't need many options, they just need a few good ones. They're definetely not trading Point that's for sure. He's not getting 10 mill either. Matt Carle's last year buyout of 1.8 mill comes off the books next year. All Tampa has to do is trade Callahan who has a 4.5 mill cap hit in his last year; they could even keep Callahan and trade Miller and Gourde if it came down to it. There are plenty of teams to trade with so it won't take much to get a deal done for whatever trades take place.

The man just had a 92 point season as a 23 year old. He's going to get paid. As far as options, yeah, you can definitely look to trade Callahan and Miller, but teams aren't going to help you out just like that. Other teams are starting to take advantage of teams in cap trouble. Take a look at the Grubauer trade from last year. You really think Washington wanted to walk away from that trade with a 2nd round pick? No way. I'm not saying Point's going to be traded, but you're going to have to give up assets to get out of the cap trouble you're in.
