Trouba for Trochek makes some sense. I could see it.

Trouba in Florida is short term, His fiance graduates in 2021 and more then likely goes elsewhere. So why would Trouba be interested in Florida?

I agree value-wise, but Florida is finally trying to make everything come together with Quenneville and I don't see them trading Trocheck if they're trying to make the playoffs

Apparently he’s got a place there. I don’t think it matters where cuz I don’t think he’s signing an extension anywhere, he wants free agency. This is a good trade for the Jets even if the only return is Trocheck and nothing else.

I don't know maybe zero tax, maybe she wants to stay down there. I don't talk to them daily so i don't know. Maybe and I think everyone agrees that Florida is building a good team and has a way better chance of winning the cup over Detroit. I am pretty sure he would take more money and a chance at winning the cup over playing for his home team any day. Remember he has never said anything ever about wanting to play in Michigan or Florida. Media just grab those 2 destinations because of the connection he has to them. You always comment on here that Trouba is going to Detroit, but Detroit won't flip a lot for him because they can just sign him next year as a ufa. Even though it has been reported that Yzerman has been in contact with Chevy many times seriously inquiring about him. Chevy is in control, and if Yzerman doesn't want to include Hronek, or a decent package. I am sure Chevy will find a trade partner who give him what he wants. If not we keep him as our own rental and that is just as good.

First off i've never said that Trouba was going to Detroit, Just that according to his own agent Kurt Overhardt it's his preferred destination. Trouba grew up a diehard Red Wings fan and has stated numerous times his desire to play for his hometown team. Granted that Florida has a decent team doesn't mean he wants to play there. Trouba is very close to his family there in Rochester, Michigan so yes he has a burning desire to play for his hometown team. First off you're totally wrong about Chevy being in control? Trouba is the one that's in control and contol's his own fate if Chevy wants a haul for him. Trouba has a say where he goes not Chevy if Chevy wants a bundle and Trouba to do a sign and trade. Trouba can just tell Chevy that he's a one year rental heading to UFA next summer. Or he can say that he's willing to do a sign and trade of a team of his own choosing. Either way Chevy doesn't control where Trouba goes if he wants a haul for him. Jacob does.

You do see at trade deadlines what GM pays for a playoff rental right? Usually a lot, agreed? Why would that be any different for a team that believes that next year is their year? Karlsson was a 1 year rental and I would say that Ottawa did very well in that deal. The Gm is always in control. I do apologize if it has been reported that Trouba wanted to play for his hometown. I have never heard that and I just googled it and I couldn't find anywhere that he said he wanted to. So if that has been said by his words, I stand corrected.

Well.... I mean its not like they're getting a top notch defender or anything. Losing Trochek but gaining Trouba isn't going to be a contributing factor to them not making the playoffs. It at worse is a lateral move overall.

grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin There are lots of reasons to want to be in Florida... No state tax, improving team, Florida beach life, Joel Quenneville, Lots of cap space... If you don't see it, you've lost your mind.
