Take out the retention and the picks. Not sure Martinez is what we want but if the money works both ways it isn’t too horrible.

Not really a comment on the trade (although doubt the Leafs will do that), but how did you retain salary for Marleau? I've been having an issue with that and just write in the description (salary retained). Thank you!

I don't understand all these Martinez to Leaf trade. Admitting the Leafs could use another Dman. For 2019/20 the key to for the Leafs is to reduce cap. Can Marleau and his 6.25m cap hit be traded with no or virtually no cap returned to the the Leaf, and if yes, what is the sweetener . The trade proposed could happen.

Martinez is defensively responsible, the salary retention is so LA can actually afford the trade.

Don’t listen to them. Given that it’s 2 years of Martinez, I think this is pretty fair. I would ditch the salary retention, and instead of three draft picks just make it a 3rd and a 5th.

That’s what I originally had but I looked at the Kings side there’s no way they can afford Marleau without the salary retention.

They’re in rebuild mode. They’ll be ditching salary
