Created by: Survivorking77
Team: 2019-20 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 11, 2019
Published: Jun. 11, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Four team trade between Vegas, Edmonton, Toronto and Ottawa:

Summary:
Edmonton:
In: Connor Brown, Cody Eakin
Out: Sam Gagner, Brandon Manning, Cooper Marody, 2019 3rd Round Pick
Logic: Move out two unwanted contracts and bring in two forwards that can contribute to the Top 9

Ottawa:
In: Sam Gagner, Brandon Manning, Cooper Marody, 2019 3rd Round Pick (NYI), 2019 2nd Round Pick (VEG)
Out: Chris Tierney, Dylan Demelo
Logic: Acquire a couple high round picks for taking on a couple bad contracts, who can slot onto the roster and bring the team to the floor. Move out two guys who likely will bolt when they are UFA

Toronto:
In: Colin Miller, Chris Tierney
Out: Nazem Kadri, Connor Brown
Logic: Get a 3C replacement and acquire a top 4 D; shed Brown's contract and move on from untrustworthy Kadri

Vegas:
In: Nazem Kadri, Dylan Demelo
Out: Colin Miller, Cody Eakin, 2019 2nd Round Pick
Logic: Acquire best player in deal in Kadri, and cheap, reliable replacement in Demelo for Miller in their Top 6 D

VGK not Veg, laughs at this trade. Not only do they give up the best players in the deal with fair contracts, but also a 2nd? GTFOH!

So Tierney is still an rfa at the end of his contract. But I don't see a 2nd and 3rd plus taking on dead money good enough for 2 guys that played important roles for the team and no one to fill them if they're gone.
The sens still need to ice a team

that must be some bias in that statement. Miller is not the best player in the whole deal. Kadri is and Kadri is on a far better contract. Also, you're forgetting that Vegas is OVER the cap. They're gonna have to pay more to get teams to help them get under the cap, hence the 2nd round pick. It actually makes sense from Vegas' side pretty well.

@Survivorking77 overall it's pretty good. 4 team trades are complex but it seems like you've got a handle on it. Ottawa loses a bit, but I think the win for them is adding the cap space while being able to give their younger guys roster spots this season instead. So there is some logic there. Leafs get what they need but still pay a hefty price. Vegas gets much needed cap space and an upgrade at 2C to slot Glass easily into a 3C role to transition better. Edmonton gets some much needed wingers while moving out some cap space. Assuming all the teams are in a good cap situation after this, it's fairly well thought out. Good work!

If I'm trading Tierney or DeMelo by themselves I'm asking for a 2nd + a 3rd. Otherwise they are more valuable on the team. No way Ottawa takes that for BOTH of them AND taking on bum contracts in the process.

Also your comment about those two leaving as free agents makes absolutely no sense. First off Tierney will still be an RFA at the end of his contract so he can't exactly "bolt" anywhere, and Secondly, there isn't a single team in the league that will offer DeMelo top pair minutes playing with one of the best young Dmen in the league.
