In simplest terms, Trouba is RH, better all around defender, bigger size if a team is looking for that, but is going to cost more for a team (WPG) that's having some cap concerns. Ghost can be electric offensively and on the PP, has struggled defensively at times no doubt, but he has shown signs that he can be a steady defender in his own end (17-18 he was really good and I believe actually got some Norris votes). He just needs to get that form and keep it consistent instead of being hot and cold. Locked in for 4.5 for 4 more years, I think this offseason once these RFA's start signing and we see the $$$ that's getting handed out, that contract will look better and better for what he's being paid and what he produces offensively.

I would certainly say slot him in on PP1 and avoid using him on PK1 if you want to have a more ideal approach to his usage, until he proves his two-way ability is strong and consistent enough to not be getting torched in his own zone at times

They are great players and both are offensive Dmen. BUT from what ive seen Trouba is better overall player but Ghost is not that far behind. From analytics standpoint Ghost is one of the best Dmen in the league, but realistically he is not. Offensive juggernaut, sometimes forgets what defence is and he makes those "what the heck are you doing" decisions but he is great as well. (BTW Trouba is not god so dont overvalue him too much please). I would do that swap tbh.

Agreed. Like I said biggest thing with Ghost is if he even stays at his career AVG and doesn't get better, his contract is a steal. If he becomes a better defender, and puts up 60-70 points? Ron Hextall RIP between Ghost and Couturier is there better long term contracts in the league?

I don't know how Ghost is deployed but one thing analytics doesn't show is that Trouba not only played against the top players but played with Beaulieu for 3 months doing so as well...Holding his own very well...No, Trouba isn't the best but he is easily worth a 1st rounder and a good roster player...

And look at the chaff that Ghost has played with, lots of bums, rookies, and third pairing guys. WPG wont get a single better player with a more than reasonable contract than Ghost in trade. So an even up deal is probably the best return WPG gets.

And oh yeah, ITS NOT TROUBA, its only his rights. Philly might get him and then have to fight off an offer sheet, or might have to go to arbitration and only have him for a year, so when you're comparing, its not just player for player, its player for player and reasonable contract for no contract.

I doubt WPG will trade Trouba without a sign and trade in place....

Oh yeah, I agree with that, but then a sign and trade would be worth more in trade, but doubt it happens. I think WPG has enough issues, then to try and work out a sizeable contract with trouba WITH a deal in place. I think theyll be busy with laine and the others.

All this will happen within 2 weeks...so plenty of time for the RFA's
