Why sign Bob just to trade him for James Reimer LOL. The trades are all terrible.

The mentality is that Bob will sign with the Jackets just to get the 8th year, then be traded..............yeah, right!

Ottawa is going to be stacked on the left side, and I wouldn't give up two 2nds for Ryan Murray to play on his offhand side.

That Merzlikins-Reimer tandem is going to be a real struggle.

Yeah, it actually makes some logical sense. Bob is going to be 31 this year. On the open market he can only get 7 years. Jackets are the only team that can give him 8 years. For instance, say he hits the open market. Two things can happen that are bad. Say the teams interested in him are only willing to offer 8 mil per, but the Jackets offered him the same deal prior but for 8 years? He basically screwed himself on a whole lot of money, with this likely being his last contract. Now, on the other side the teams on the open market now have to deal with a bidding war that could ensue. Good for the player, but bad for teams.

Still ultra unrealistic I'm afraid. Rare for any player to do that as far as I'm aware.
