I don't think there is one sane person who would trade a 20 year old first line centre still on a ELC for a 30 year old defender whose cap hit is 9 mil for the next three years. I do agree that Vatanen/McLeod/2nd rounder wouldnt get you Subban but Hischier would be a vast overpayment for Subban.

I would think that it would be more like Vatanen, Wood, and 2 second round picks for Subban (or one second round pick if Jersey would choose to deal pick 34). That still may not be enough, but I think it is closer to reality than either proposals.

I'm not treating Sami as an all-star, I'm treating him like a defenseman who could step into their top 4 immediately who is on a team friendly cap hit. Nashville needs to pay Josi and PK's cap hit is too big for that team. I'm not exactly sure what the ancillary pieces of the trade would be but he would be the one to go probably, him or Severson.
