Good luck trying to get Lucic to sign an agreement to waive his NMC for Seattle. The reason why he'd want to go to Vancouver is cause his family is from there and he'd want to raise his own family there, not move them again 2 years later

that's assuming Seattle picks him in the expansion... judging by all the teams lining up to take his contract i'd say low probability of that happening

If I'm an expansion team, Milan Lucic is pretty close to the bottom of the list of guys I want. This assumed some team building logic on behalf of Seattle.

In 2 years time I'm hoping the Canucks have some guys to worry about being taken; rather than the likes of Luca Sbisa and Milan Lucic.

You've also gotta realize they have to hit the cap floor. Lucic could be an easy to get veteran that eats up $6M. For cap floor teams, those are important

Solid point. Realistically though Seattle is what? At maximum 3 hours away? Wouldn't be the worst scenario for him anyway.

What an awful reason you gave to extend Elder. Hoping he is claimed by Seattle. Then you're hoping Lucic disappears too, though Lucic would waive his NMC for the draft but wouldn't be claimed.

It's it kinda nonsensical that fans of their teams think that Seattle is going to be pick up poor contracts. They might be pick up two max, so. the chance that it is your team...one in fifteen. Of the top of my head, I don't think Vegas made an expansion claim of a bad contract that actually affected their cap.

Zero percent of this was under the impression or intention of Seattle claiming Edler or Lucic. In fact it was on the opposite premise of Seattle A. Not wanting Lucic and B. Edler being compensated upfront so in the event Seattle does take a 36 YO dman in 2 years, he won't be taking a big hit in the pocket book to simply retire a Canuck.

Canucks need protection against having to protect older players in the expansion draft. Lucic and Edler are both on record as saying they want to be in Vancouver. Lucic needs out of Edmonton. Edler needs a new contract. Each give consideration in return for Vancouver making those things happen for them.
