Good signing. Need a little bit of ahl depth.
He plays well at that level.
Don't think his game ever translates to the nhl... but could play a game here and there due to injuries.

I'm surprised this guy got a contract. He's 24 and doesn't even look like an AHL guy. I would rather have an empty contract spot over this guy.

When a player isn't even a top 6 forward in the AHL, I don't believe he should have an NHL contract. That's just my opinion

I highly doubt he uses capfriendly, if he does, hopefully it's motivation for him to actually become what he was projected to be.

1) I doubt hockey players go onto places like HFBoards or here because of comments like these that are rife on forum posts.
2) Projections are projections. Just because Klimchuk was projected to be a decent player doesn't mean that that's what has to happen.
3) Still pretty arrogant and rude to say something like that. (And also pretty laughable, to imagine a hockey player going, "I'm gonna improve my hockey skills because some random forum poster was disappointed in me!")

It's more about proving the haters wrong than it is "I am going to become Elite cause this random guy said I suck".

It may be rude, but it's the honest truth. This guy isn't even a top 6 AHL forward and is now taking a contract spot away from someone who is better/deserves one.

what are you basing "isn't even a top 6 AHL forward" on?
2016 - 17: 19 G, 43 P in 66 GP, good for 3rd among the forwards on his team in points and in goals
2017 - 18: 19 G, 40 P in 62 GP, good for 2nd among the forwards on his team in points and 3rd in goals
2018 - 19: he was shuffled along to 3 different teams:
- 3 G, 8 P in 17 GP for Stockton
- 2 G, 2 P in 13 GP on a pretty stacked Toronto team that has a lot of good forwards
- 4 G, 5 P in 8 GP for Belleville
I mean, getting traded means having to uproot everything and settle down in a new city with a new team that runs a different system. There's always an adjustment period when getting traded to a new team.

So, clearly, in two of these 3 AHL seasons that he's played, he's been what appears to be a top-line forward for his team, and then, in the 3rd, he got bounced around twice as a trade chip.

And, sure, "proving the haters wrong" isn't inappropriate motivation, but you're also implying that you're a hater in the first place and being a jerk.

I'm looking at last year. 15 Points in 38 games doesn't look like a top 6 forward to me.

As I just said: "in two of these 3 AHL seasons that he's played, he's been what appears to be a top-line forward for his team, and then, in the 3rd, he got bounced around twice as a trade chip." There's an obvious track record of "hm, this guy might not be half-bad and maybe just had a bad season."
