I would be shocked if a second line Center, a low end 4/5/6 Dman with a long contract, and 2 back end second round picks get Ellis.

A 2nd line center, 4th defensemen (yes its crazy, but seems like teams are valuing Zaitsev as a capable 2nd pairing D) and two 2nd rounders can definitely get Ellis, no doubt. Hes an unbelievable 2nd pairing D and fringe top pairing D (2/3).

However, I can't see a reason that the preds would want to do this even though it is probably better for them. Leafs losing out in the deal and only dump off $2 mil while losing a great C3. Hard to replace him there and seems like Leafs want Nylander playing on Matthews wing and not C3.
