Values are hard to predict, but the concept of

Hall for 3oa

3oa to DET for 6oa +

Caufield at 6oa

is pretty interesting.

That's an oversimplification... If Hall is thinking about walking next year, it would be a solid move to grab a top pick that would align age-wise with the new Devils. Hall for 3rd overall and probably an additional asset, then 3oa for 6oa and an additional asset. It would really help the rebuild and they could land a dynamic duo in Hughes and Caufield to build around.

NJD would probably be looking at Turcotte/Byram if they had 3oa. They already have Smith and Hughes/Nico... Caufield fills much more of a need if they were to move down to six and they can gain more assets that fit into the rebuild.

If the hawks made this trade they'd make the next offseason really tough to sign all their free agents. They'd have to give hall a huge contract, Debrincat a huge contract, and strome would get a decent raise too. But can you really pass up on a hall toews kane line?

I wonder if you would consider taking on Anisimov or Seabrook additionally in this deal. It would likely come with an extension, and there would be salary coming back to NJD.

Avs would take that for 4OA. We’d need assurances on Hall signing long term in Denver though.

I think at this point any trade involving Hall, on this site, is assuming the Devils let him talk about an extension to the team first like Pacioretty and Stone; 8 x $10 million or whatever. That way the Devils get max value and I think it would make more teams interested if they could talk to Hall first.
