Given Vantanen is a pending UFA I'd want a prospect back as well. Maybe McLeod?

Instead of giving up the 55th pick how about our own 2nd which is the 34th? It’s basically Vatanen and a first now. Or Vatanen and Mcleod for Trouba. Possibly add in a 4th.

So you're asking us to trade one year of Trouba during our cup window to downgrade to one year of Vatanen for the honour of getting a second round pick. This is an easy no from me, even if it is the Devils 2nd.

As a Jets fan I'm not interested in Vatanen at all as he's often injured and already being 28 is going to be going into decline pretty soon. That's before getting into that he's one year being a UFA. It's got to be Severson if you're going to be offering us a D in return.

Very easy no from the Jets for 2 reasons. They could get a much better package from another team, and if they do strike a deal with NJ, Severson will HAVE to be coming back the other way + more.

They could get better packages but is Trouba going to sign a long term deal though is my question? If not his value drops as he becomes a one-year rental with a chance to sign long term.
