No, the Canes wouldn't do Ehlers for Pesce, jesus. Pesce makes 4 mil a year on a bargain deal playing hard D minutes with mostly D zone starts finishing +35.

+/- is the worst stat for judging a players value. So much goes into it, that it's just almost useless.

Pesce May be good defensively, but Ehlers is a consistent 25 goal scorer that's one of the fastest players in the league plus he's on a good contract of his own. He's on the same path as Jeff Skinner and Skinner just scored 40 goals. Ehlers is also better in his own end and in transition than Skinner is.. Skinner just signed for $9M so Ehler's $6M is looking pretty good. Add in the fact that Carolina is desperate for offence, and 1-for-1 actually makes a lot of sense.

Pesce is getting pretty overrated at this point. Everyone talks about him like he's some kind of defensive god. He's good, yes. But he's not the next Lidstrom like people act like he is. And he has no offence to his game, he's one dimensional. He's not worth a king's ransom like people on here seem to think.
