Sharks Plan after EK65 8x88 Deal - Resign Everyone

Created by: CheechYou
Initial Creation Date: Jun 14, 2019

Team: 2019-20 San Jose Sharks
Team Explanation
Three keys to all this working:

1) Make the trades listed,
2) Have Meier + Labanc take bridge deals, which DW is known for doing with breakout young players (i.e. Hertl + Nieto 3 or 4 yrs ago), and
3) Nyquill + Pavs who both want to be back in SJ to take paycuts from what they'd likely receive in free agency.

When did Ryan Merkley become a shutdown defender?

Overall, too much noob on defense, I doubt this team makes the playoffs. Please, please let this happen!

If the Sharks resign Karlsson it would seem that do it just to justify the trade they made with Ottawa. So they gave those assets to Ottawa to acquire one year of EK, then to keep Karlsson they have to trade off other players to fit EK into the cap..

As CD282 suggested above, does resigning EK, trades players make San Jose better than 2018/19 edition. Gotta say no.

crazy how tight the cap will be even if this idea were to actually work to a tee
