To qualify, a player must have won the Conn Smythe trophy, which has only been awarded since the 1964-65 season. Several players have won it more than once, and therefore have been awarded 1st line status here:

That gives us our 1st line, our #1 defenseman and goaltenders.

Malkin's 36 points are the highest of the remaining players, so he's 2nd line center. Leach's 19 goals are the most of any winner, so he's 2nd line RW. Sakic's 18 goals are 2nd most, his 34 points put him just behind Malkin, so he rounds out the top-6.

3rd line: Bossy's 17 goals and Ovechkin's 15 goals flank Toews and his 22 assists in 22 games as a 21-year-old.

4th line: Trottier had 12 goals and 29 points, he anchors the 4th line. Zetterberg (27 points) and Lafleur (26) round out the forward regulars.

On defense, Brian Leetch's 34 points and +19 rating make him a clear favorite to pair with the great Orr.

MacInnis, with 31 points is paired with one of the best ever - Robinson who had 21 points and a +21 rating.

On the 3rd pairing we have Keith (21 points, +16) and Lidstrom (16 points, +6).
