An actual Coyotes GM

Description
Yotes are done taking on dead cap, they're ready to contend.

They draft Arthur Kaliyev 14th overall, pretty big guy on his off wing with a wicked shot, 50 goals as a 17 year old in the OHL is very impressive. Not ready to jump into the NHL yet imo, another year of juniors could be great for his confidence as he grows more into his bigger frame.

I think the Yotes and Panik have mutual interest in resigning, but the coyotes have so many solid NHL caliber players i just dont know how likely a reunion would be, I can also see another team paying him more than the yotes can really afford

The coyotes have about 197 guys that would ideally be 3rd liners, they have one of the better bottom 6s in the entire league and are very well coached, they just need one more guy to get into their top 6 to be a real contender. As of now Kessel is rumored to be that guy but I think hes a bit too old for the Coyotes window, I think the Coyotes are ready to make a splash and surprise a lot of people.

Now Reilly Smith isnt a stud, but hes a great two way player that has had a ton of recent success in the playoffs. Vegas has a ton of cap problems and while Smith isnt on a bad contract and they wouldnt want to move him, someone has to go. Fischer can fill out the middle six RW role that Smith would leave. He had a good rookie year but a bit of a sophomore slump, still has solid value especially on an ELC, Vegas needs cheap roster players. Merkley has lost a bit of steam since being drafted in the 1st round but still holds good value after two good seasons in the AHL, log jam of centers in AZ so hes expendable.

I like the trade from a Las Vegas perspective. (I think the Golden Knights fans will love it because it solves their cap and RW-logjam problems.) I'm interested to see how your fellow Arizona colleagues react.

How about Osterle instead of Merkley?

Not the worst proposal I've seen, and Fischer and Merkley can even go down to the minors without going through waivers, but Smith has an 8 team NTC.

I cant see that being a problem for ARI but he doesnt have the same value as Merkley imo, maybe another 3rd would have to be added or something like that

It's just Merkley is repetitive because VGK has Glass. Osterle could play this year and is pretty cheap.

Fair point, maybe Holden goes the other way to free up some more cap for Vegas and ARI gets a solid replacement
