You forgot about Pilut and Olofsson. Even if Pilut and Olofsson don't massively impress they'll sign bridge deals around 2m ea, plus Haula at 5. Slash that 25 down to 16 and suddenly it doesn't look so good. Then after that summer you have Dahlin and Rodrigues (who should be locked into a longer contract because his numbers are going to get much better on a good team).

If you pay a bunch for players, you should make sure you can keep them long term or else all that investment might be wasted. The sabres can probably bring in one 6m player before the future cap starts looking tight.
