Ingram put up good numbers in the AHL last season, For a young former 3rd round pick, this looks like a steal for Nashville. Why would Tampa make this trade?

No idea, but these trades may be more about managing contract spaces than anything else

You don't trade a 22 year old AHL All Star for a roster spot.

Tampa now has two goalies signed for next year. A guy who puts up Elite numbers at 22 isn't traded for a contract space.

Apparently "attitude problems"
A bit of context:
Quote:
Controversy came about, however, when Ingram was assigned to the Solar Bears. He was a healthy scratch for three Crunch games with Eddie Pasquale and Martin Ouellette playing instead just prior to his demotion to the ECHL. This all came after Ingram was having a fine year and was named to the 2019 AHL All-Star Team. When Ouellette went down with a broken leg, Ingram was recalled to the Crunch and reportedly had a talk with General Manager Julien BriseBois. After that, he was sent back to Orlando without playing for the Crunch.

Many rumors have gone around about Ingram’s issues. The team and Ingram have never disclosed what the issues were other than stating they were keeping the matter internal. That’s standard operating procedure for this franchise. However, many of the rumors have centered around attitude and work ethic issues. We don’t know what really happened, but there was certainly a rift between Ingram and the organization and it appears that rift could not be healed.

I don,t know anything about him, I just meant in general swapping an AHL player for a 7th round pîck. But it sounds like people who know more than I do about Tampa's system indicate there were personal issues involved

Also, an interesting little factoid: this leaves the Lightning with only 2 goalies under contract. The CBA stipulates that at least 3 goalies must be under contract at any given time during the league year, meaning they need to sign a 3rd goalie prior to July 1st. Could be an interesting trade angle, since the only people available to sign right now are European goalies or NCAA/CHL free agents.

I get that Ingram wasn’t happy and stuff but holy ****! At least get SOMETHING back! I’m sure Ottawa would have taken him in a package with Callahan or something

The cat was out of the bag. Everyone knew about Ingram's conflicts with the higher-ups at the Crunch and that the Lightning had no leverage in this situation. I'm not surprised that they couldn't get much value for him.

7th rounders are essentially worthless. How many 7th rounders even play a single NHL game in their careers? Probably less than 10%. Judging by his numbers, this kid will get his shot in spite of his supposed attitude problems. He's clearly a potential NHL Goalie. This is def. a head scratcher.

For every 7th-round player that makes the NHL, how many do you think don't?

Lucky they got back something at all. Nobody wants a player with attitude issues.
