What Every Team Should Do - Get Rid Of The Players Youre Shopping

Description
Apparently Zucker for Virtanen and Tanev has been discussed but I replaced Tanev with a 1st because I've seen a few ACGMs where he was traded for a 1st. Source on the Zucker to VAN trade was TanSor (said it in an old thread) and he's usually right when it comes to Wild information

If we trade Spurgeon, it should be to Philly for Patrick or the 11th overall pick (Spurgeon would come with an extension). I'd prefer Patrick, but either are fine.

I think Vancouver says no unless it's Virtanen and their 2nd this year, doubt they move their first next year.

Edit: also, Kaprizov is coming in 20/21, not next year.

Okay. I'll edit to have Kaprizov off the roster

Made a bunch of changes taking both of these into account.

These 2 things have FAR different values. 11th overall vs Patrick is the difference between a likely deal and a 100% no. Although with the addition of Niskanen to our top 4 I don’t see us moving either for Spurgeon at all

There is zero chance that a nearly 30 year old defenseman is going to be traded for the 2nd overall pick from two years ago that is coming into his own. Patrick is worth way more than Jared Spurgeon.

Everyone says Kapanen gets 4+
Why should it be different if the Wils are signing him?

I disagree. The forwards projected to go around 11 (Boldy, Newhook, Dach, or Krebs) all project to be first line forwards which are typically 60-70 point players. That's what I see as Patrick's ceiling now, there's a tiny chance he's better but you could argue the same for all the players I just listed. Forget that he was drafted 2nd overall, that was 2 years ago and is sort of meaningless now.

And I said Spurgeon would come with an extension so you aren't getting a rental, and I also didn't mean to imply a 1 for 1 trade even though it definitely reads that way in my initial comment.

I am not too big on this... it creates a short term log-jam down the middle... Duchene-Staal-Koivu-Patrick - Ek - Rask and technically also Kunin (who should be on this roster). Fenton made his bed by committing to Staal, so I don't think going after Duchene is the best option. Unless Koivu is on IR to start the year, Patrick needs solid minutes ... and So does Ek... if those have any chance of developing into 1C and 2C in this league respectively, you need them to get the minutes. So I'd say either trade for Patrick or sign Duchene... or trade Ek as well.
