Let me clear my thoughts.. I dont think he is good as good (he is a player that has tools to be good but he isnt) and I dont believe he has high trade value and based on information I received from multiple people I was wrong and he has higher value than firstly expected due to various reasons: 1) he personally asked for a trade and Leafs did not want to trade him (which is nice trick lol), 2) teams see him as top-4 Dman because he was good shutting down Bruins top line with Muzzin, 3) his term is positive for them because it gives them cost certainty for 5yrs and with new contracts such as Lindell it makes sense for them to have him at 4.5 for next 5yrs lol. We will see what happens and what the return would be but I would not be shocked if it was higher than expected. We will see.

Zaitsev has negative value but not Lucic level negative value, that's a whole other ball park. Dubas would have to have a summer of smoking crack to even consider this.

Skill and trade value are 2 completely different things. You should learn that before you start insulting people like that.

Also, if you think Zaitsev has negative trade value you should look at Lucic.. & Toronto having to give up multiple pieces to move Zaitsev (more valuable than Lucic) than Edmonton having only giving up 1 piece (not even a NHL roster player) makes no sense at all.

Zaitsev is a decent second pair d on a reasonable contract. I don’t see how he has negative value. The leafs probably don’t get his max value and may not even get a fair trade for them because he asked for the trade would lower it, but not to the point that he has negative trade value, let alone less value than Lucic.

Even if for a second we consider Lucic and Zaitsev equal, which they're not, Toronto would be incredibly stupid to take back a forward they'd have to protect in the expansion draft unless they're actually worth protecting considering they're pretty much guaranteed to lose a good forward to Seattle unless they work out a deal with them.

Zaitsev may not have much trade value due to his term. But he isn't a plug. He's been the 3/4 Dman on the Leaf who are the a top 10 team. It's the same scenario on CapFriendly all Leafs Dmen are so bad.
Bracco and Kapanen for the Edmonton's first.....Leafs might win that part of the deal. Zaitsev for Lucic.....Leafs lose that deal and on the cap too.
