What? If I'm Anaheim, I seriously consider taking this deal. They rid themselves of a rough contract in Henrique and get back a top pairing RHD which they don't have any of outside of Manson (who's really a #3 guy). Yes it sucks giving up Rakell but for a low budget team, getting rid of Henrique's contract adds quite a bit of value for Anaheim. Plus the Ducks get a 1st round pick back? Yes it's a late pick, so I might change it to a 2020 pick (top 10 protected) if I'm Anaheim, but it's still good value. & the Ducks are getting a good young roster player in McGinn.. I don't see the loss in that deal for Anaheim at all. What are you seeing?

It's not far off. As I said above, the only issue I see is that Carolina's 1st round pick is a late round pick. I think it'd be closer value if the pick was a top 20, maybe a top 15. So I'd change the 2019 Carolina 1st going to Anaheim to a 2020 1st (top 10 protected) and I'd say it's something that both teams highly consider. Good work

Anaheim can't afford to trade both their #1 winger and #1A center, no matter how good the future pick coming back. Rakell for Hamilton and the 2020 first makes sense.

I respect your opinion but I disagree Anaheim gain notting by doing this trade. Idk if you are biased (car fan) but Hamilton is not a #1-2 D in my modest (mtl fan) opinion.
Why would Anaheim Trade their best forward for a #3 D ? Ducks D is good on paper with : Lindholm, Fowler, Manson, Larsson and Ghule

Hamilton not a #1-2 d-man? .. have you seen his numbers or watched him play? At worst he's a fringe #2. He's still better than Fowler, Manson, Larsson and Guhle. & I'm not a Carolina fan, so no bias in that opinion (and facts). Anaheim also has no right handed d-man in their system outside of Manson. RHD are a premium position to get, especially to play within your top 4. Anaheim also has a ton of young forwards they need to and can give a shot to next season. And as I said, a low budget team is riding themselves of a high paid contract. There's plenty of value for Anaheim to make a deal like this.

Let's assume that Hamilton becomes Anaheim's number one RD. The trade still boils down to two first-line players for one first-line player plus a mid-range forward and a future toward the back half of the first round. So the team that finished at the bottom in every offensive category gives up offense (particularly their best scoring forward) for a lesser return. If we were talking about Victor Hedman, I could see it because Hedman would be the best player in the deal. But we're talking about Dougie Hamilton. To be honest, given the two teams' situations, I wouldn't trade Henrique even up for Hamilton. No thanks.
