Laine trade - feedback needed

Created by: Caniac555

Initial Creation Date: Jun. 15, 2019

Description
Here are my assumptions;

WPG trades Trouba somewhere for futures and cost controlled roster forward.

Dougie provides a cost controlled RHD option to replace Trouba at a price tag a few million lower.

Does this move the needle for WPG?

Don't think WPG needs anymore RHD. They are already having an overload on who trying to keep with Byf, Trouba, and Myers.

Myers, after all, is UFA, and Trouba seems to be traded, only Byf and the youth will remain.

This could go through if Trouba is dealt and Myers doesn't resign, but I don't think Winnipeg is looking to trade Laine at all.

This is a good idea. I think Carolina needs to add though. Substitute the first for Necas. So Necas, 2nd round pick, &Hamilton for Laine & 3rd round pick

I saw your post with the trade. So much depends on what Jets think of Necas, Thought he looked good in the AHL playoffs. He just might be that second line centre the jets are looking . Like your thought even if Jets have to add a bit.

If Hamilton had more than 2 years left on his deal, I would agree with you. Plus he’s been traded too many times. His perceived valued may be diminished.

Good original suggestion by you though

This makes no sense. Dougie is more productive offensively than Laine, and he's better LITERALLY EVERYWHERE else. Laine is a 3rd liner with a god like shot. His passing is horrific and he is just bad. I'd be so angry if Waddell did this. Connor or Ehlers, fine. Yes, sure. Laine? No. Wrong guy for this package
