Carolina says no pretty easy actually. Laine is a liability without the puck, and Canes can get the same amount of production if not more from Hamilton and Necas combined for a lot less money too.. Laine doesn't have a whole lot of trade value actually

Understand that Carolina might balk, but don’t agree that Laine doesn’t have trade value.

He's one dimensional. He has a good shot and that's about it. He's a liability defensively, in transition and physically. Not a whole lot of teams are interested in that for a high price. I'm not saying he doesn't have value, he just doesn't have the value that people on here seem to think he has

He’s 21 and has scored over 100 goals in the NHL. He had a bad regular season and still scored 30. He was also one the team’s best players in the playoffs. Don’t you think he can improve on the negatives?

Laine is young and maybe the 2nd best pure goal scorer in the League, nothing special about Hamilton, nobody seems to want to keep that guy on their team either. Then you throw in an unproven prospect and very late 2nd rounder who may never even make it. No thanks. I think quality for quality would be better instead of quantity. Also don’t forget Laine is even younger than Aho, still lots of room to get better.

His personality and on ice play make it look like he doesn't care about improving. He only cares about scoring goals which he thinks is enough.. so right now, yes I question whether or not he can really improve.

If the Jets make this trade they're idiots and Chevy should be fired.

People who think Laine is such a "one trick pony" don't seem to realize he's only 20, I remember when Crosby and Scheifele were first in the league and couldn't stay on their feet, it takes time, not every young player is like McDavid and if Laine the "one trick pony" doesn't have the November he does the Jets probably don't make the playoffs. The Jets got way bigger issues then the growing pains of a generational goal scorer.

WPG says no. There's always going to be players like Necas and Hamilton to be drafted in basically every year, but a sniper like Laine is an unique talent.

After 2016, not a single player has had an impact like he has when it comes to scoring efficiency. He's TOP5, possibly even TOP3 in the entire world in that aspect, as a 21 year old. 30 goals or more in every season of his career with more or less mediocre linemates.

That's an unique skill to have. He gets his confidence back, and he's virtually unstoppable.
