I don't think think Severson is worth paying 4.1 to play on the 3rd d pairing but my opinion tho. Also 4 more things, bring up tolvinan (play him on the 2nd or 3rd line) and Grimaldi will want like 1.2-1.5, trade Bonino for picks or a prospect and with Subban get a 2nd or 3rd line winger would make more sense than Severson on the 3rd line. Ex trade: Since Myers is most likely leaving a trade maybe unrealistic is like Subban for Ehlers and either Parreault or Kulikov which he can play the 3rd d pairing(Maybe)?

Good thoughts, I based Grimaldi's contract on guys like Trevor Moore and Conor Garland. Severson is not just going to play in the 3rd pair, I have him playing in 1st PP unit. I watched him play in the Worlds and he was very good on the point with Canada, his role would be much like what Colin Miller had in Vegas for 2 seasons.

Oh I agree he is good no question but with Josi most likely getting an extension over 8 million and with fabbro projected to be a top 4 dman what's the point of him on this team?

Having great depth in defense would defidnedly not be a bad thing. Just look what Carolina did with a stacked D core. Having Severson play PP leaves Josi and Fabbro with more 5v5 time. And in case of injuries having a bonafied top4 D in 3rd pair comes very handy.

I'm going add that in My opinion Tolvanen is not ready. One key thing that he would need is PP time at the Ovie spot, something that he propably wouldn't have with this team atm. I'd say that best for him is to have one more year in the minors.
