In all do respect Mitts is not going to be the player Karlson is. Karlson put up 40 last year and had a down year at high 20s this year. I don't think Mitts will be a consistent 20 goal man in his career.

Karlsson had one year of 40 and his shooting percentage was unreal in that year. Which leads to it being an outlier year. Casey on the other hand is going into his second year only with a lot of potential. You have zero clue how youth players work.

Neal provides leadership, 100+ playoff games and familiarity with Botterill from his time in Pitt
Scandella is dead weight making $4 mil that they get some draft pick compensation for (addition by subtraction)
The Philly-Vegas deals allow them to accelerate the rebuilding process by getting a proven goal scorer and a D-man similar to Ristolainen, another poor possession-metric player like Scandella

But yea, thanks for the insightful feedback...

Botterill would never bring Neal to Buffalo due to toxicity in Pittsburgh. He seems to be trying to create a positive culture in Buffalo. What is the point of exchanging Patrick for Mittelstadt, and then turning him over to Vegas for the Wild Bill? If you really want to get Wild Bill and Miller, then just give them to #7, Vegas has serious problems with a cap and according to rumors there are problems with extending Karlsson.

Okposo is one of the biggest leaders in the Sabres locker room right now. His contract sucks but unless someone is going to take him as a cap dump he's of more value to us than other dead weight contracts.
