Was 1st line scoring the real problem with the Leafs last year? Defense and a backup goalie from the games I watched on CBC--oh and Babcock and his veteran fetish.

People getting all over Babcock is ridiculous. This core is still super young and developing. They have another 5-10 years together, if they dont win the first couple years oh well **** happens. He doesnt exactly go on the ice and score goals for Matthews, or win puck battles for Marner. Thats what was lacking in game 7

Leafs aren't really in a good cap situation to sign a big UFA, even if Marner leaves. Must be best to solidify some long term deals with other players. More cap room next year...assuming Marleau doesn't leave this year...
