Just for the sake of it tell me honestly if you had a 6 foot 5 inch 21 year old player that had scored 110 goals in his first 3 seasons in the nhl " 44 in his 2nd season " and you had an aging team that is in a win now scenario would you trade this player away for 2 mid to late 1st rounders " who might play 3 to 4 years from now " a minor league unproven backup goalie and an unproven undersized prospect and an overpaid often injured and suspended 3rd liner ??

Its easy to try and cherry pick another teams superstar players but at least try to be logical and not this much of a homer . Not every gm is the next MILBURY OR CHIARELLI

the jets can't keep all of their players due to cap issues and he is going to want 9-10 million a season on a long term deal... and he goes on huge scoring slumps like patches... i don't think I want the habs paying this guy that much dough so I would pass on this trade.... keep all of our kids and just like them develop..... the jets will probably trade trouba instead and this is the guy that would help the Canadiens but he is also a right defenseman I believe

Maybe your right but if your Cheveldae you match and trade him at your leisure and for a better return he is rfa no arbitration rights according to the rules they only have to offer him a 10 percent raise until he has arbitration rights in two years . teams do not do this to superstars because it would piss them off and they would hardball you later .
