I absolutely didn't mind Gudas for what he was and it was the final year of his deal. I'm now convinced that they could get even more for Niskanen after the Trouba deal. There really aren't that many UFA d-men that are perceived as top-4 especially with Trouba and Karlsson off the board. He could easily be flipped for a mid-to-high 1st plus at least a B-prospect. Still sign Stralman for less than Niskanen for the puck moving d-man to play top-4 with Sanheim, and have a literal big 3rd pairing with Myers and Morin. That's still a solid d-corps. Might not hurt as much then when they overpay for Hayes.
