Bowman gonna get fired if either one moves, Murphy’s our only good defensive defensman and gus is out best d man, bowman would be making a terrible mistake if either one moves

There would presumably be another dman coming in to backfill them, either thru trade or FA or they think boqvist is ready to make the jump

Mtl decline. Gustafsson only got 1 good season, and he’s UFA in a year. + he’s horrible in the defensive zone.

Gus is LHD, Murphy fine can be replaced but our top d man prospects all play on the right, and it’s not that easy to replace gus, imagine he improves in defense, he could be the next upcoming, plz don’t trade him

He's not "horrible" in the defense zone. He's a C or C- in the D zone, but hardly "horrible".

Gus plays both sides and if boqvist is ready he would replace gus, or potentially a guy like gardiner in FA. Or by making a trade like the TBL one

Boqvist isn't going to walk into the NHL and replace Gus. Boqvist needs to fill out more and would be best if he stays with the Knights another season. Gardiner doesn't get you much more then Gus but will cost the Hawks $4.5M to $5M more to sign him...absolutely not worth it.

Definitely not a middle 1st round pick in terms of value

I agree, but Hawks were offered a late 1st by several teams at the last TDL.

If the hawks draft Byram, they should move Beaudin to MTL for the #15th OA pick. Good move for both teams but looking very unlikely the Hawks grab Byram.

Agree on boq he probably needs another year but if the team thinks he is ready he does approximately replace gus, great offensively with some defensive deficiencies. Gus probably costs you a similar price tag to gardiner if you want to resign him next year otherwise he walks for nothing so it could be worth it if you trade him and get a good return. Next season you could have gus for 5m or gardiner for 6m+return for gus

Too hard to say what Gus will command yet. Smartest move IMO is hang on to him and evaluate at the TDL.

Boqvist, jokiharju elite potential and Mitchell top 4, Gilbert trash, beudin top 4, same with krys and Carlson top 6, no LHD is as good or ever will be as good as gus or any of those RHD

Agreed, but if you get a great offer for him in the offseason and the team sees boqvist or gardiner as potential fits next year I think you have to consider that option

Must be nice being able to predicting the future. What's this week's lottery numbers?

Why'd Edmonton not sign him if he was so good? Why was he passed over in the draft...twice?
Why didn't another team sign him right after his rights were relinquished instead of the following April?
Why'd he spend 3 years in the minors?

There's a damn good chance last year will be his high point. He's probably a 45-50 point d-man. Still solid offensively. But he still has issues in the Dzone.

Defenders have to defend. And while he's gotten better, his shortcomings defensively prevent him from being the Hawks "best" defensman

Boqvist plays the same game as gus, doesnt matter what side of the ice hes on, it makes him redundant long term. He can qb the pp and transition the puck. Beaudin or maatta can take his spot on the 2nd or 2rd pair going forward. Assuming you lose him next season and dont acquire anyone else the pairs in 2020 probably look like keith-boqvist, maatta-joki, murphy-seabs

27 yo, is third NHL season, he did ONE 60 points season, he’s not a 60 points dman. He might do 20 points next season, you never know. You wont get the 15th OA pick based on 1 season IMO

Hes had one 60 pt season bc hes only played one full season. And this was his first time ever playing in a top 4 role and on the pp. If youve watched him play you know he WILL score more than 20 pts next season assuming hes healthy. He has rare high end offensive talent

He has 58 career points in 120 AHL games.

He had 30 points in 76 NHL games prior to last year.

playing bottom pair minutes, no pp time, and being bench by Q every other game. Play him 20 mins a night in a transition system and hes an indisputably high end skater passer and shooter
