with arizona's financial situation i doubt they take on any cap dumps--- they just simply can't afford it.

Jensen cost the Caps a second and a prime prospect who is expected to make the Red Wings roster this season. Instead of busting out, as your trade implies, he seems to have justified that move. So that particular trade of yours is woefully inadequate.

Washington says no. Why do they need Sparks?
Vancouver says no. Virtanen has huge potential.
Gardiner says no.

"They can and they will" - Kyle Dubus

Arizona has room with in the league cap rules, it's their internal cap situation that makes this actually work come July 1 Marleau is owed 1.5 Million and plays 82 games - Yotes take Marleau and a Prime Asset (a 2nd rnd pick or A level prospect)
IMO Arizona has more interest in a Marleau deal then they would ever let on it's a good deal for both organizations

Arizona has less than 8 mil cap space available. They almost made the playoffs last year.

If you're their GM do you a) take on 85% of your available space to get a middling asset on a player who will not produce what you need or b) use that money to try and upgrade your team to push you over the hump, knowing that you have 3 awful teams in your division you are going to beat, and the Sharks and Knights may be worse next year due to cap issues. Especially knowing when Seattle comes into the league you're moving into the more competitive central division.

If the answer is not b), you deserve to be fired as a GM. It's very difficult to see a fit for Marleau in Arizona. Why is it a good deal for them? How does it make them better? This is not the Coyotes of 3-4 years ago who would take on any cap hit that saved them money.

since when has a 2nd rounder had the same value as an A level prospect. Most A Level prospects are picked in the top 10, with a few stragglers behind.

i'm not saying they don't have enough cap space, I'm saying that they are continuously losing money, so giving any to marleau is a waste. Also, any prospect or pick toronto (fans mainly) would include in a deal wouldn't be NHL ready rn and help them get to the playoffs.
