Can't see either of them accepting. Toffoli is worth more than a fringe NHL prospect and low picks.

Zucker trade is closer, but when you think about it that first is literally the last pick in the entire round and Nylander is the only other interesting asset here. Scandella and 4th doesn't bring really anything to the table.

I think if you replace the fourth for 2020 2nd one will be more than a fair deal, which will be similar to Skinner's deal, although Jeff had an NTC/NMC and he wanted to play close to home. Deal with MIN seems a bit strange, I don’t think they want to return Scandella back, you can just remove the extra picks and offer Nylander and 1st Stl for Zucker, maybe Fenton is really tempted by such an offer.

That's fair insight. I would be willing to add to both trades. Every time I see Toffoli moved on here it seems like an underpayment. Hes not too far removed from being a very good player, but does come with some risk and only has 1 year left. Considering Skinner was acquired for a 2nd and a prospect about the same as smith but younger, it makes somewhat sense, but I'd be willing to give more. Skinner was a much better player than Toffoli at the time he was moved, but that trade may be a bit of an anomaly.

I would totally model it after the Skinner deal, but Skinner had more value imo. Toffoli is a good player, but on a down year and not as talented as Skinner.

Would imagine that CAR regrets that Skinner trade by now.

Even though it was going to happen sooner or later, because Skinner had no plans to stay in CAR. This is what I'm assuming at least.

Toffoli's value is somewhat unknown to me. LAK needs to get what they can for him too in case he walks. I probably lowballed and would add, its just a weird situation to get a grasp on.

In recent years there's two or three exampl trades for 2nd line RWs and their returns - the Johansson trade from WSH to NJ, the Shaw trade from CHI to MTL and the Palmieri trade from ANA to NJ.

Shaw was moved for two 2nds, Johansson and Palmieri was moved for 2nd and 3rd.

So I think if you follow the examples, Toffoli should fetch a 2nd and a 3rd. Especially if the ask is high.

So I also say that Skinner's value declined due to fact that he wanted to play closer to home and he would not renew his contract with Carolina anyway, I think Toffoli has a slightly different situation, he doesn’t have NTC/NMC and LA not obliged to trade him, and so I agree, for me, Skinner is a more important and strong player, although Toffoli is also good.

I'd probably do that 2 and 3 and just keep CJ. He's a lottery ticket essentially.

I like the trades. But all three UFA signings suck.

They made the conference finals so I’d say they’d be pretty happy.
