Description
The future is now.

Avs pick up 2 wingers that are young and fit in with the core. With better wingers I think Jost can take a big step forward. Sakic and co are still high on Jost even though people keep writing him off. Have to remember he just turned 21.

After the 19/20 season they will have Marleau, Soderberg, nieto and barb coming off the books with Barrie ??? and girard to resign.

Like the Toronto trade and adding Ehlers but I don't think they'll trade away a 1st round pick for the upcoming draft. They probably won't have a 1st rounder in the first half for a long time and now they even have two. Expect them to keep the picks and go after Byram and Knight.

Also, they still need a 2nd line center. Barrie needs to be traded, maybe Jost in a package deal to get a 2nd line center or to create cap space and go after a FA

Toronto's only on-ice need is for a RD. Johnson is too expensive, Barrie is a rental and you're not parting with Makar. So the only asset in which the Maple Leafs would be interested is that #16 overall pick. (I won't insult anyone by even mentioning the #4 overall.) About the only trade between the Avalanche and the Maple Leafs I can see happening is Nazem Kadri (there's your new #2 center) for that second first-round pick.
