If this deal goes through, don't you wish the Pens had just made the playoffs, got knocked out in the first round and then picked about 18th.

These type of deal might be needed to get Fleury traded. Some money coming back to Pittsburg and a veteran goalie just in case Murray gets hurt.

Simple deal but I think it will help both teams.

So we trade a good starting goalie for a below average one and basically a 2nd round pick. Awful.

Value wise, you're correct. But the Pens might not have many options if they truly want to move for cap reasons (and the expansion draft). Actually Bernier played well from January till the end of the season.
