Oilers changes 1

Created by: Jberney1
Team: 2019-20 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 17, 2019
Published: Jun. 17, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trading Lucic for Erickson straight up with a draft pick to try and get Vancouver on board with the trade. Strict swap of salaries and for the extra year on the Lucic contract.. throw in the draft pick.. the round is negotiable. Erickson hopeful can provide some 3rd line contribution and if not the buyout at the end of season is less than buying out Lucic.

Signing Chassion and Kharia for second and third line depth. If I can I want to leave the Benson’s and Yamomoto’s in Bakersfield for another year for development but if required will call one up.

Sekera to Ottawa with 2 years left on his deal. Not a huge salary hit for the Sens as they don’t care about results for the remainder of his contract, they will be rebuilding and he gives them a veteran to work with the youth. Want a 3rd line center back so went for tierney.. Wells goes in the draft as he is a decent prospect and I’m trying to hold onto draft picks.

With the first round selection, take Matthew Robinson to provide defence in the next year or two.

Signed Mrazek to add some goaltending depth while the youth develops and some stability to the team. Of course your hoping he has some fire left from last year. Could have looked at Lehner but ties up 10 million in net and that’s a lot unless you tried to Bob.

Moved Manning out to open a spot for Bouchard and moved Russell to Toronto keeping 50% as they need defence cheap relatively cheap and added a prospect to hopefully get Kapanen.

With cap space that was opened up, signed Tyler Myers to be a big body, puck mover and help in special teams.

I think a lot of this makes sense and ices a team that can make the playoffs.. it’s an upgrade from last year.

Lol no for Tierney. The sens LHD depth is overflowing.

A guy who is busting like he's at a dance club and a retained Russell isn't an attractive package for Kapanen.

Kapanen for Larsson and Ryan McLeod, not Russell and Safin.

Sekera might be a good trade target for the Sens as they could use a mentor for their young kids, and desperately need some high caphit contracts to hit the floor this year.
But the Sens also have WAY too many goalies in the pipeline and in their system which means they will NOT be adding any more goalies.
Oilers could really use a good 3C. Sens have a plethora of them.
Tierney and Pageau (one of them) will be available as Sens have too many players (Batherson, Brown, Chlapik, Norris, Tierney, Pageau, Smith) vying for 2C-3C position.
Tierney is more offensively minded/younger/on a good contract. But Pageau is a faceoff king, is very effective on special teams, and can fully fulfill every portion of the 3C role. (faceoff starts in defensive zone, really responsible and smart in his zone, etc etc).
I would propose you package Sekera, Manning and Puljijarvi (from EDM)
To
From Sens: Pageau, Harpur, Boedker (@50% retained)

Or probably an easier trade would just be Sekera and a 3rd rounder for Pageau and Harpur

Robertson is ranked as a very late 1st rounder / early 2nd rounder. No way do the Oilers take him at #8.
