What's the logic behind trading away Henrique for a more expensive and much older Marleau just to plug him in as the fourth-line center? I mean I guess you can plug him in anywhere between 2-4 but would just keeping Rico in that spot not be preferable? It's not like we need ALL of those second round picks that badly. And I think San Jose matches that pretty easily. It's not like 22 year old forwards who put up over 50 points grow on trees. There has only been one case of an offer sheet that wasn't matched and the return was way more than just a second. There's a reason those never work. I mean Doug Wilson has some tough decisions to make but letting one of his best players walk for a second (for a contract well-below his value) isn't one of them.

Hey, I was gonna say all that, right down to the offer-sheet stuff.

I just don't know how WIlson is able to sign Labanc to that contract since they have 12.5M in cap and still have to sign Pavelski, Meier, and fill in two more roster spots (I'm just assuming they lose Donskoil, Thornton, Nyquist, Ryan, Heed, etc.) Ducks could just offer Lebanc 4.1M, still only offering up, a 2nd pick for him, and that makes it even more difficult for Wilson to sign him. All Murray has to do is offer sheet Lebanc right away and force Wilson to either put himself in more cap trouble or take the 2nd. IF he did match then Murray could just go after Meier, if matched, then sign Donskoil as a UFA, my point is more so that any team can get one of those 3-4 (if you include Pavelski) valuable assets for little to no cost because of the Sharks cap situation.

I just feel like he'd do what every GM other than Brian Burke would do is match and then worry about how to fit him in. I think he has to worry about his RFAs first and if he has anything left over try to bring back one of two of his UFAs. That or trade Kane. I'm also not sure 3.8-4.1 would be enough to entice Labanc to try this move. But the bottom line is Wilson should prioritize keeping him above just about anyone left he has to sign.

The only real trade scenario I can see is Toronto one and the Vegas one... I think the ducks would love Miller to help in the top 4.... however, would it cost Larsson? However, we can take on Marleau for a couple picks coming back for a year and not trade Henrique.
