Trades
1.
MIN
  1. Demers, Jason
  2. 2019 1st round pick (ARI)
Additional Details:
According to Craig Custance, Arizona has said they're "willing to move this pick in return for a front line offensive player." They do exactly that with this trade.
ARI
  1. Zucker, Jason
Additional Details:
Zucker is insanely undervalued on this site. He's a 50-55p winger who has shown he's capable of scoring 30 goals, not to mention he's signed at a reasonable cap hit.
2.
MIN
  1. Patrick, Nolan
  2. 2019 3rd round pick (PHI)
Additional Details:
The Wild get a player with potential to be the 1C they've been looking for.
PHI
  1. Eriksson Ek, Joel [RFA Rights]
  2. Spurgeon, Jared
Additional Details:
Spurgeon signs an extension, ballpark 5 years x $7.5M

Chuck gets the best player he discovered during his time with the Wild in Jared Spurgeon. Spurgeon gives them the top pairing RD to play with Provorov they've been looking for and rounds out Philly's D core. Eriksson Ek is slotted in behind Hayes (assuming they re-sign him) as their 3C.

Hope the Leafs in on this discussion. Nylander at 7m for five years...cash payout of 4.9m per year.

If Nylander is available, I hope the Wild are in. Apparently Fenton was in this past fall but he wasn't willing to trade Spurgeon or Dumba for him.

Zucker is not a 50-55P and 30G winger. He has only scored over 50 points once in his career and has only scored over 30 goals once. He is a 40-50 point winger with one good season under his belt. But with that said, I think the trade value is pretty close. I just wouldnt classify him as a 30G and 50-55P winger yet until he can show it wasnt just a fluke

He had nearly the same opportunities as last year (8 fewer), but had a shooting percentage that was 5.1% lower. If he had his career average of shooting %, he would have scored 26g goals and he didn't have the playmaker (Granlund) that he did last year. I don't think he's a 60+p winger, but I also don't think he's a 40p winger. That's why I said he's a 50-55p winger, since I think he's somewhere in between this year and last year (which would be 50-55 points).

I Like this team as well as the one you did with the Vancouver trade. I think though Patrick would probably have to be our #2C because he is of his offensive upside plus I could see the Wild being very careful with Koivu as he comes back from the ACL. Also side note: would you rather have Pavelski at a lower cap number and less years or stick with Lee for what you signed him for?

Thanks! Yeah I just had Koivu at 2C for kicks. The ideal route would be to start Patrick at 3C but eventually bring him up to 2C for the last half of the season. Koivu may or may not start on IR... Sounds like he's hell-bent on returning, though.

Great question, and honestly an idea I've been toying with for a while. I can't say for sure. Probably Lee since I don't think we're contenders for the next couple years, even with Pavelski.

Yea that's what it sounds like and watching Koivu through his career he is the kind of guy that will run through a wall to get back on the ice.

I could see that but are we contenders with Lee???

I don't think so, but if you can trade Zucker for assets and sign Lee for no assets, that's a net gain. You'd be getting a guy that has scored 40 goals in this league and younger assets for a guy that has scored over 30 goals in this league. That's a huge win IMO.

True. Hmmm looks like the price for Spurgeon may have gone up if the NYR's can sign Trouba.

I think you're light on Anders Lee. He might go for 9M, but you've got room in this build. I love everything about this plan, which means it won't ever happen with Fenton at the helm.

@TanSor what if Fiala isn't a "natural RW" as Fenton said, but is a LW... Is that a catalyst to go after Kapanen?

Possibly! I thought he played really well with Parise towards the end of the season, but it's way too small of a sample size to tell if he's a good fit on Parise's RW long-term.

It would be great to find a fit for Parise's RW...especially one that might be around for more than a year or two.

How do you know? Lee is from MN, maybe he wants to be closer to family. I'm not saying it'll happen, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility.
