Jacob Trouba has a new home and Erik Karlsson re-signed long-term. That means Jared Spurgeon’s price to acquire just got higher for teams that missed out.
This is huge for the Wild. I don't think Fenton wants to move Spurgeon, but for teams needing top pairing RD (like Tampa, Toronto, and Philly), the market just got thinner with EK an Trouba now off of it.
Problem is though guys (if your all Guys) is can can Toronto and Tampa afford and/or want to give up what it would take to get him plus pay him??
Take a short-term bad contract back in the deal. Or retain salary. Teams are going to have to give to get and Spurgeon is the most underrated defenseman in the league. Consistent effort every night.

Everyone wants point, but he is not going anywhere... I think some of the discussion on this site around Spurgeon to Tampa or Philadelphia or Toronto make sense... I just don't think Point is attainable even with Spurgeon as part of the return. We'd also have to retain contract or take a contract back (not a problem) but I still don't think that gets it done. @TanSor do you agree? You proposed several Tampa trade ideas, but none included Point

I think you said it best. Don't think Point is going anywhere, Tampa will figure out a way to keep him. Hypothetically speaking, we'd have to give up something like Dumba and an additional piece to get Point and I don't want us to trade Dumba.
