It was Hjalmarsson that got the offer sheet. Hawks went to arbitration with Niemi. Hawks wanted 1.5 Niemi wanted 4. Arbitrator set the number at 2.75. Hawks declined and Niemi signed for 1 year and 2 million with San Jose before signing a 4 year extension later that year.

Why do you get nothing in return for AA? And Eakin is worth way way way way way more than a 4th.

They couldn't afford Niemi because of 4million in performance bonuses and cap mismanagement with the rfas not being tender Qo's. Read something that McDonough may have delayed the mailings causing the contracts not to arrive in time.
