You do realize this is an unreasonable trade and expectation from DET right? A rebuilding team giving up the #6 pick? It doesn't make sense. They BARELY have the cap to do it anyway. I actually think their bonuses would be a concern if they made this trade.

I would think Sergachev and a first round for Trouba would have been better for both sides.

Tampa has shown interest in Barrie in the past. Wonder if they fire up some trade talks again

I know BOLTLOVER1 doesn't like Sergachev but it seems to me that he might be in line for playing on the right side permanently next year (he is much better on the right) with Coburn and/or Hedman. I still think they try to get a RD by trading a middle six forward but I don't think Sergachev is getting traded.

Hedman-RD from trade
McDonagh-Cernak
Coburn-Sergachev
Rutta

Why shouldn't Foote get a shot in the NHL?

Sergachev has lots of potential .. BUT my issue Is Tampa needs to shape team to win in playoffs when it gets tougher .. teams play harder .. gets lower scoring.. refs swallow whistle etc. Etc.. Sergachev to me is not gritty and not physical and makes WAY too many own zone turnovers.. could you see those goons from St Louis hammering Sergachev

PLUS .. Hedmen is the PP lead on Tampa and this diminishes Sergachev value .. for a team aiming to win NOW .. he should be traded and can return quality assets that are built for Playoffs

This deal would be very tempting as a Buffalo fan.

Look I know as Lightning fans, we want to see them go out and get an awesome defenseman BUT JBB may not. We have to manage the cap this yr and especially next year. Vinik expects to contend for the cup every year so you have to keep a long term view always going. Just look at how good our top 4 is already. I would pair them like this:
Heddy - Serg
McD - Cernak
Cobby - Rutta
Also, keep in mind, Foote is not ready yet but he is really close. He had a slow start last year (his 1st pro year) but towards the 2nd 1/2 of the season, really started to get it and picked it up. Probably needs about another good 1/2 a season with top line minutes (and power play time) in Syracuse before moving him up. So we could see him up in the NHL with us after Christmas. Maybe sooner if someone gets hurt or if he is tearing it up down there.

With Foote in:
Heddy - Cernak
McD - Foote (Mcd can help Foote's rookie year like he did Cernak)
Serg - Cobby/Rutta
Healthy scratch Cobby/Rutta

That's my take. Go Bolts!

His skating has to improve more. I watched about half the Crunch games on AHL TV and to me if he can get his foot speed up he will be in the NHL ready. I think he will get a taste of the NHL this year on a call up or two but will be with the Crunch most of the year.

I catch the replays when I work overnights. Most of the prospects biggest weakness is skating, once they improve it the Bolts have some nice forwards coming up.

1. Volkov is the most NHL ready foward on the team, I expect him to see NHL action next year. All around good player, skates well will fit right in on the 2nd or 3rd line. Would not shock me if he stays with the big club to start the season.

2. Mitchell Stephens is NHL ready as well, skates well but not overly fast he would be a great 3rd or 4th line guy, plays like Callahan all out and has a little scoring touch. Only problem with him is staying healthy.

3. Verhaeghe is an interesting case. Decent size 6-1 about 200 lbs and a Center but I don't know how he will translate at the pro level. He is not a grinder so that hurts him making the Lightning since they are so top heavy with forward talent but would not shock me if they lose him to a team since he is now waiver elgible. I see him as a trade candidate. He reminds me of a top line AHLer / NHL tweener but I could be wrong.

4. Raddysh - if he can fix his skating he will be a 2nd line power forward with great hands at the pro level. But skating has a long way to go. Have him ahead of Barre-Boulet since the Lightning need players like him more so then ABB.

5. Barre-Boulet - magician with the puck and in close, smaller side but has plenty of potential to be another Marchesault (sp?) - if he improves his skating he will be in the NHL quick. Biggest upside but no need to rush him.

6. Katchouk - he did not show much in way of scoring but he plays a great two way game, he skates real well. He might be able to jump into a lower line role faster with the Lightning.

Sleeper - Ross Colton - much better as the season went on. It will be interesting to see how he does this season.

These are just my opinions but if I had to make a bet it would be Volkov making the big club and staying. Stephens second if he stays healthy.
