The Leafs say thank you and send Yzerman flowers? Why give away Madison Bowey like that? You are literally getting nothing in return.

I'd also be careful of penciling a rookie defender into your top-4. Very few guys can make that jump.

What's with the Toronto trade? Why would they trade Bowey for a 26yr old KHL player and a 5th?

Bowey himself isn't worth much. If a 5th isn't good enough his value isn't much higher so I'm not sure what else you'd want.

The Avs definitely arent saying yes to that. The upgrade from Compher to Athanasiou is not enough of a difference.

Really? I guess I disagree. Regardless of what we think his value is, I think Detroit gives him a season to play and see what they've got rather then moving him now for nothing.

I really think that is an over payment to move up 2 spots. AA is coming off a 30 goal season and is penciled in at the 2C next year. Compher looks like at best a 3C. I think maybe adding Detroit's 3rd to move up two spots would be fair value. According to the NHL draft pick value chart Detroit's 3rd would still be an overpayment.

They are only moving back 2 spots in the draft. To upgrade from Compher to AA I think that would be a huge overpayment by the Wings. According to the NHL draft pick value chart a early 3rd pick seems fair to move up 2 spots.

Ok. Why would they take on a player that isn't coming back to the NHL at anytime soon? Giving up on Bowey after 17 games just to get a 5th round pick?

Fine. Take Miroslav Blatek at 37 years old off the reserve list. Makes about as much sense.

I agree that Aaltonen has no value in this trade, the trade is Bowey for a 5th.
