2019-2020 NY Rangers Realistic View

Description
Basically this is the outlook I see the rangers coming to come September of this year and this is what the roster will look like.

Trouba: he will sign a 1 year 4.5 deal and explore his UFA rights come July 1.

This means that the rangers can sign Panarin for his 11 million and trade a couple of other players to get draft picks or low end guys to fill roles for next year.

Realistic as in Trouba somehow gets less money after a career year, sign panarin and the Devils take your bad contracts.

It's a 1 year contract for 4.5 million. I have a feeling he will be a rental till the trade deadline. He hasn't signed a contract for more than 3 years and that was his ELC contract. I think he is going to want to wait till his UFA year and make the money there. That is why he it says 4.5 million for 1 year. The most he will get if he signs a big deal is 5 years 7.5 million.

Look at my last comment to carbonxe. he will most likely sign a 1 year deal for betwee, 4.5-5.5mil and test the UFA waters july 1 2020

You shake your head, but your not looking at his past contracts, the way that he didn't sign an 8 year deal with Winnipeg for 8 million. That's why I have a feeling he will sign a lower end 1 year contract with the rangers and we will use him as trade bait come the trade deadline right before he becomes a UFA.

REALISTIC VIEW!!!!

yah it is a realistic view without damaging their cap space. they still have to sign several RFA's and even if they don't sign these RFA's, they need to find replacements to fill the roster, which means it will eat cap space. This means that a 7 year 8 Million deal with trouba will not leave the rangers much to work with when signing several guys including a Kakko if NJ doesn't draft him. The only other way that they can sign him long term is by buying out smith or dealing him at 50% salary retained for a 6th or 7th round draft pick.

His last RFA deal was for $5.5M. Even if they hit a stalemate and can't lock him up to a long term deal, how on Earth do you expect to get him to sign a 1 year deal, that is less than last year's 1 year deal, after his breakout Scoring Season?

They will not overpay him like Winnipeg did. they overpaid for him by almost 2 million. he should have been at 1 year 3.75 but they wanted to show good faith that they want him to sign that is the reason why he was at 5.5. The rangers can't afford to be hovering close to the cap. If I am wrong, I am wrong, but I believe he will be getting a 1 year RFA deal around 4.5-5mil so he can test the UFA market out.

Doesn't matter what they should have paid him, it matters what they did pay him. You can't pay someone $1M less on an RFA deal than the previous RFA deal, especially after their best Offensive Season.

That's true for any player, but even more so for Trouba. If he has obviously gone for Top Dollar in every negotiation, he sure as Hell won't stop now.

Hey buddy Winnipeg didnt determine that number an arbitrator did, and he will again because he's still up for arbitration and he just had a career year so an arbiter will give him more money than last year.
