Basically Philly gets an insurance policy on the right side in Braun. If for whatever reason Myers does not keep getting better, they have a solid option in Braun for this season there. More likely, Braun serves as a luxury depth piece and mentor the young D corps. I give the Sharks the edge in the trade value but not by much. Great for them to relieve stress on the cap after EK signing and to get 2 picks to replenish their stock of draft assets is even better. Good value for Philly but better value for SJ imo.

P.S. I'd still rather have not done this deal. I'm more worried about what Fletcher is up to next than worried about this particular deal.

I thought PHI was the most underachieving team this season. They had too much talent to play so poorly. I think they'll bounce back next year, but I hate this trade. They're not Cup contenders yet, and they're sacrificing part of their future for a bandaid.

Exactly. It's a numbers game. The more 2nd/3rd rounders you can accumulate, the better chance you have of developing future roster players.

defense is at a premium every off season. That's why they do this. It's hard to find people who can play defense.

I hear you. I don't like the deal, but I'm not flying off the handle about it either. We've basically had 4 drafts over the last 3 years because we accumulated so many picks. In that context, it's bearable.

I really really want to have faith in Fletcher but goddammit, this is worse than the Niskanen trade.

For the Sharks to get two HIGHER round draft choices in BOTH the 2nd and 3rd rounds is terrific. I commend the GM here on this one and it does help Philly who need to improve its defense if it hopes to make the playoffs. Smart player choice on Philly's part and they did have to pay for it but it works out. I think overall the Sharks win here but good for both.

You could literally say that about any trade that covers needs, that doesnt mean that one isnt favoring one team. Sure, both teams got what they needed but Flyers came out of this short handed

Yeesh that's a lot for a guy like Braun. If it was just the high second I think it would be more fair, but as it is I have to give it to the Shorks.

Braun was a bit injury prone/long in tooth kinda slow... He didn't put up offensive numbers D-men need in todays game... Shame they traded for Krap Karl when DeMelo w/ Heed would have served them better if they had Hoffman then improve their left shot d-men... They got better value for Braun compared to Knights who traded a better player w/ lots of speed/shot upside in Miller for trash...
