What benefit do the Kings get in return for taking on Marleau's boat-anchor cap hit? Wouldn't they be better off using that $6.25M to sign Tyler Myers?

LA is not taking Marleau unless you add a sweetner or you are taking back a bad contract. Per Pierre Lebrun a sweetner would be a Kapanen or Johnnson. This team has many years they can win with their young core. Marleau stays for his final year and then they have cap to make moves.
